What is PCOS/PCOD?

It's one of the most common conditions in women. It can lead to primary or secondary infertility for up to 20% of women during their reproductive years. It is associated with Aarthava Kshaya in Ayurveda. There are elevated levels of androgens in the body of people with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). It affects 5% of women of reproductive age and is the most common reproductive disorder in India and all over the world.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) signs are progressive. Hormonal shifts that intensify PCOS tend to start as soon as puberty hits, after the first menstrual cycle. Early signs can be more evident when you gain weight. Hirsutism (excessive hair growth), growth is based on the body, upper lips, chin, below the navel, in between breast. Sometimes even, too, heavy eyebrows and lips. Facial fur, and/or scalp thinning.

PCOS most of the time is of two types

  1. Symptomatic

  2. Asymptomatic

Where asymptomatic may or may not be the condition of PCOS

Why PCOS leads to infertility:

Most women with PCOS do not ovulate naturally. Their intervals are unpredictable and, thus, their monthly patterns are not predictable. As a result, it wouldn’t be helpful to try to manage pregnancy.

A significant number of women with PCOS have a problem with luteinizing hormone (LH). Without enough LH, they cannot produce the necessary hormones to prepare their uterus for pregnancy. Without enough of these hormones, the lining of their uterus will not be in a favorable condition for the implantation of an embryo.

Without enough LH, they cannot produce the hormones to properly prepare their uterus for the implantation of an embryo. Without these hormones, the lining of their uterus will not be in a favorable condition for the implantation of an embryo. If their menstrual cycles are very irregular, their endometrium will not be able to be prepared when the egg is released. As a result, it wouldn't help to manage pregnancy.

Symptoms of PCOS:

Irregular Periods: Due to Hormonal imbalance there is the absence of Ovulation, which prevents shedding of the uterine lining every month. It extends periods and there is unpredictability about periods.

Severe bleeding: Some times due to excessive secretion of hormones, The lining of the uterus gets thicker than average, meaning that the intervals will be longer than usual but bleeding may be more.

Growing hair: Hirsutism or excessive hair growth on the chin, upper lips, back, belly, and breast is also a common symptom of PCOD. hirsutism is due to excessive testosterone in the body and it occurs in about 70 percent of women suffering from PCOS/ PCOD.

Acne: The skin can get higher than normal through male hormones, and break out in areas such as the face, chest, and back.

Overweight: Up to 80% of females with PCOS are significantly overweight

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF PCOS?

There is no clear explanation for why people get the disease. Most experts agree that a variety of influences, including biology, have a part to play when it comes to the number of androgens.

Male-pattern baldness is caused by androgens regulating the development of male traits. Higher than average amounts of androgen in women can cause extra hair growth and make it harder for women to have an egg during their menstrual cycle, both of which are signs of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

It is a factor in the development of the polycystic ovarian syndrome. You will learn which foods and activities cause excessive insulin production, how to reduce it naturally, and how to reverse the condition if you are currently having it.

Ayurvedic Management For PCOS

lifestyle modifications and medications are included in the primary treatment for the disease. If you want to avoid the long-term side effects of medication, lifestyle modifications should be considered first.

There are step-wise treatment goals that can be considered:

Reduction of insulin resistance, restoration of fertility, treatment of hirsutism, and prevention of endometrial hyperplasia. Personalized therapy can help restore a woman's fertility and Hormonal imbalances are to blame.

The first line of treatment in Ayurveda is panchakarma. It involves a series of five therapies, which cleanse the body and flush out toxins that may be contributing to the polycystic ovarian syndrome. The result is a healthier and more beautiful you. A complete look at the entire person is what Ayurveda takes into account. Rather than simply treating the symptoms, it looks for the source of the problem. The body is able to heal itself when the root cause is eliminated.

Panchakarma for Infertility and PCOS

The ‘Panchakarma’ therapy of Ayurveda provides a clear response to the rising problem of PCOS in the modern era. Therapy with panchakarma gives power to the sexual bodies such as the uterus, ovaries, Fallopian tubes, female vagina & male testis. The hormone equilibrium is preserved by panchakarma treatment. Ayurvedic Panchakarma allows you to conceive easily.

1. Basti (Vasti):

Enema of herbal oil or Decoction is delivered via Rectum. Vitiated “Vata” can cause a number of health problems. Basti releases blockages in the way of Vata Dosha and thus controls the natural “Vata” phenomenon. For treatment with Basti, various types of herbal oils, Ghruta, milk or decoctions are used. Miracles may arise if they are treated correctly with suitable medications.

The Basti treatment removes the dosage from the rectum. It balances the Dosha of the “Vata.” Apana Vayu is the type of “Vata Dosha” that controls Shukra Dhatu (Semen) in males and Aartava (Ovum) in females. ‘Apan Vayu’ regulates the reproductive system.

In females, “Sahachar Tail” oil Basti increases the consistency of ovulation within regular days. In males, the Basti treatment increases the consistency and volume of semen, i.e., improves overall sperm count and motility of semen.

Benefits of Basti

• Reduces Female Infertility = Irregular Menses, Hormone Unbalance, Dysmenorrhea, PCOD, Fallopian Tubal Block.

2. Uttarbasti (Vasti):

Uttarbasti (Vasti) seems to be the most effective therapy for gynecological conditions. Because of its resulting effects on the uterus and ovaries, it dissolves the cyst in the ovaries more efficiently than oral medications. Also, it helps to purify and flush the Aartava Vaha Srotas, pacifies the vitiated Apana Vayu, and increases follicular maturity.

3. Virechan:

It extracts body contaminants as ‘Pitta’ vitiated. The washing process is done in the small intestine and in other parts of Pitta. In this case, medications that facilitate the passage of the intestine are improved for the elimination of doshas via the rectum. It’s working on a hormonal equilibrium like ‘Vaman Karma.’

4. Vamana:

Cleaning technique meant primarily for the expulsion of the vitiated ‘Kapha.’ This is a painless, drug-induced emetic process, done predominantly in Vasant Ritu.

Fertility care helps to get pregnant naturally with the help of the best drugs and treatments available in Ayurveda. It is possible to control hormones with herbal drugs. The treatment can be used to cleanse the body and correct the body. After completion of the panchkarma protocol, it has been found that there is no need for hormones. Special herbs and methods are used to help the female reproductive system. Inflammation and insulin resistance can be mitigated by the high levels of phytoestrogen in Ayurvedic medicines.
