Diabetes is mentioned in Ayurveda books written in 2000 years BC as a disease related to urine. Urinary issues like sugar in the urine, Albumin in urine, urinary incontinence, and frequent micturition ( Polyurea) are all these diseases mentioned in Prameha Chapter. A total of 20 types of Prameha have been described by Ayurveda. There are three types of defects: Vata, pitta, and Kapha.

What is Diabetes -:

According to modern science, an increase in blood sugar and urine is called diabetes. But according to Ayurveda, not only an increase in sugar means diabetes but also frequent urination, poor metabolism, tingling in hands and feet, feeling tired, losing weight, feeling very hungry, thirsty, or not feeling well, this group of symptoms is called diabetes. In Ayurveda, we can call it a Madhumeha which is mentioned type of Vataj Prameha.

Causes of diabetes-:

Heredity (inherited from parents), due to the wrong diet of the mother during pregnancy, wrong eating and drinking habits, sedentary work, lack of exercise, junk food, alcohol, excessive consumption of meat, anxiety ... Also, Too much rest, too little sleep. Have a habit of eating more. Eating more foods that increase Kapha and Kleda, like yogurt. Eating too cold, too greasy foods and too much of them.

Some of the reasons mentioned above can be seen in diabetics if they are properly considered. Therefore, it should be noted once again that irregularity in the diet is an invitation to many diseases.

How does diabetes occur?

The causes mentioned as increased Kapha and 'kleda' in the body. This kleda causes inertia in the body. Enthusiasm is lost in any work. This 'kleda' goes into the urinary tract and causes lesions there.

Also, In diabetes, the production of insulin in the pancreas decreases or stops, and insulin depletion prevents the digestion of blood sugar and raises the blood sugar level.

Symptoms of Diabetes-:

Symptoms in diabetic individuals include frequent urination, increased thirst, increased appetite, increased sweating, lower limb burning, not healing wounds quickly, irritability, fatigue, etc. When diagnosing diabetes, look at your blood sugar and urine levels and do not ignore other symptoms.
